Today's workforce is disengaged, dispirited and fatigued. Why? The human body is built to be in motion, but the average workday keeps us sedentary.

Here's What We Found

In the 2015 State of Workplace Health Survey commissioned by InMovement, office professionals said that they spend the majority of their time at work sitting, approximately two thirds of their day. And they're experiencing the negative effects that a sedentary lifestyle has on their bodies and minds, from weight gain and fatigue to increased stress and frustration. Spending too much time sitting is associated with dire health consequences, including:

  • Increased risk of diabetes
  • Double the rate of cardiovascular disease
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Weight gain
  • Disability later in life
  • Additionally, too much sitting affects the brain and can reduce productivity at the office.

Our bodies were meant to move throughout the day, but how can employees encourage their workers to be active during the day while maintaining productivity on the job? At InMovement, we believe the solution is simple. Changing the way we work through blending standing and walking with daily job function can make a significant difference to health and well-being.
