Unsit App Privacy Policy
Unsit App Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 26, 2026
Applies to: the Unsit Treadmill by InMovement mobile application (the “App”) for iOS and Android, package com.utda.
This policy explains what the App collects, why, who it is shared with, and how to delete it. It is published by InMovement Co LLC, 3815 River Crossing Pkwy, Ste 100, Indianapolis, IN 42460, USA (“InMovement”, “we”, “us”). Questions: info@inmovement.com.
1. Summary
- The App connects over Bluetooth to your InMovement treadmill desk and records your walking activity.
- We collect your email address, your walking and fitness data, and the weight and age you enter to estimate calories.
- We never sell your data, and we never use your health or fitness data for advertising.
- We do not collect your location, even though Android requires the location permission for Bluetooth scanning.
- You can delete your account and all associated activity data from inside the App at any time.
2. Data we collect
2.1 Account information
Your email address, and a securely hashed password if you register with one. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and a Google account identifier. We also store your account creation date.
2.2 Health and fitness data
When your treadmill is connected, the App records:
- Step count
- Distance walked
- Active walking time and session duration
- Walking speed
- Active calories burned (estimated)
- Walking sessions (workouts), with their date and time
This data is stored on your device and synced to our servers so your history is available across devices and after reinstalling the App.
2.3 Physical characteristics
The body weight and age you optionally enter in Settings. These are used solely to estimate calories burned using a standard MET-based formula. They are not shared with anyone.
2.4 Treadmill and connection data
The Bluetooth identifier and name of the treadmill you pair with, the treadmill's reported operating mode, and connection and disconnection events. This is what lets the App reconnect to your treadmill automatically.
2.5 Diagnostic and technical data
App version and build number, device model, operating system version, IP address, and diagnostic logs about treadmill connection and step-counting behavior. We use these strictly to find and fix bugs — step-tracking accuracy in particular.
2.6 Bug reports
If you submit a bug report, we receive the description you write and, only if you choose to attach one, a screenshot you select. The App never captures screenshots on its own.
2.7 Push notifications
A push notification token, so the App can alert you if your treadmill disconnects mid-walk. You can turn notifications off in your device settings.
3. Data we do not collect
- Your location. Android requires apps to hold the location permission in order to scan for nearby Bluetooth devices. The App uses that permission only to discover your treadmill. It contains no GPS or geolocation functionality, and it never collects, stores, or transmits your location.
- Health data from other apps. The App only writes to Apple Health and Health Connect. It never reads your health records, and it cannot see data written by other apps.
- Contacts, photos (beyond a screenshot you attach), microphone, or camera data.
- Payment or financial information. The App does not process payments.
4. How we use your data
- To provide the App: recording your walking activity and showing your daily and historical totals.
- To keep your history in sync across your devices and restore it after reinstall.
- To estimate calories burned, using the weight and age you provide.
- To notify you about treadmill disconnections and, where you have opted in, App updates.
- To diagnose and fix bugs and improve accuracy and reliability.
- To understand aggregate, non-identifying usage patterns so we can improve the App.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
5. How your data is shared
5.1 Services you explicitly connect
-
Fitbit — only if you connect a Fitbit account. We then write your walking activity to Fitbit using the
activitypermission scope. We do not read anything from your Fitbit account. You can disconnect at any time in Settings. - Apple Health (iOS) and Health Connect (Android) — only if you grant permission. Your walking data is written on your device, stays under your control there, and is not transmitted to us through those platforms. You can revoke access at any time in Apple Health or Health Connect.
5.2 Service providers
Our application servers and database are hosted on Railway (United States), which processes data on our behalf under contract and may not use it for its own purposes.
5.3 Legal
We may disclose data if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or InMovement.
5.4 Business transfers
If InMovement is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may transfer. We will give notice before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
6. Our commitments about health and fitness data
Because the App handles health and fitness information, we commit that:
- We do not sell your personal or health data to anyone.
- We do not use health or fitness data for advertising or marketing, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
- We do not transfer health or fitness data to data brokers or information resellers.
- We do not share health data with third parties except the destinations you explicitly connect (Section 5.1) and our hosting provider (Section 5.2).
- Data the App writes to Health Connect remains on your device. We only write; we never read from Health Connect.
- If you revoke Health Connect or Apple Health permissions, we stop writing immediately. Data already written stays under your control in those apps.
7. Retention
We keep your account and activity data for as long as your account exists, so your walking history stays available to you. Diagnostic logs are kept for a limited troubleshooting period and then discarded. When you delete your account, we delete your account record and associated activity data from our production systems; residual copies may persist briefly in encrypted backups before being overwritten on their normal rotation.
8. Deleting your data
You can delete your account and its activity data at any time:
- Open the App.
- Go to Settings → Account.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
You can also email App@inmovement.com from your account's email address to request deletion, correction, or a copy of your data. We respond within 30 days.
Deleting your InMovement account does not delete data already written to Apple Health, Health Connect, or Fitbit — remove that in those apps.
9. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored on access-controlled servers. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using commercially reasonable safeguards.
10. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact App@inmovement.com and we will delete it.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request deletion; we do not sell personal information, including that of anyone under 16. Exercise any of these rights by emailing App@inmovement.com. We will not discriminate against you for doing so.
12. International transfers
We operate in the United States, and your data is processed there. If you use the App from outside the US, you understand your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you in the App or by email before the change takes effect.
